Launched in 2012, the adaptation of ‘John Carter: Between Two Worlds‘ was a complete commercial failure, grossing only $284 million at the box office worldwide, from a budget of US$ 250 million.
However, it seems that the film is gaining popularity among subscribers to the Netflixsecond Taylor Kitsch, interpreter of the title character.
During an interview for the The Hollywood Reporterthe star was asked about the failure of the adaptation, but said he is happy with the reception he has received since the premiere of the film on the streaming platform.
“It’s so strange, it feels like the movie took on another life when it premiered on Netflix a year ago. People stop me all the time to talk about it, especially in Europe. It looks like the public has finally woken up. It’s weird because at the time, there was a crowd complaining, like, ‘Let’s see how we can bury this trash together with the cast.
Kitsch also made it clear that he has no resentment over the poor reviews the film has received.
“Over time, you take a deep breath, understand and move on without looking back… Besides, it was a great experience to participate in this film, I learned a lot as an artist. I don’t see it as a failure, I just have to thank you.”
