Despite having been a huge success in the last two weeks, ‘Batman’ got off to a rather slow start in the Chinese film market, opening with just US$12.1 million on its opening weekend (via THR).
Although consecrated as the biggest opening for Hollywood in the country, the rise of COVID-19 cases led the Chinese government to grant a new closure of establishments, which prevents the local public from going to cinemas and watching the film starring Robert Pattinson.
Analysts estimate that very high 30% a 43% of Chinese cinemas were closed this past weekend as the country battles yet another outbreak of the Ômicron variant. Rooms in the metropolises of Shanghai and Shenzhen were closed, as well as others in areas of considerable urban concentration – which led to sales applications such as Maoyan it’s the Tao Piao Piao to provide that the display of ‘Batman’ ends up in China with a weak collection of $26 million.
In the US, however, the feature has already earned solid US$ 300 million. In the international market, $298 million.
In total, production has already raised solid $598 million worldwide.
It is worth remembering that the film is still showing in national cinemas!
Matt Reeves (‘Let Me In’) is responsible for the direction.
“Two years patrolling the streets as Batman (Pattinson), causing fear in the hearts of criminals, led Bruce Wayne into the shadows of Gotham City. With only a few trusted allies – Alfred Pennyworth (Serkis) and Lieutenant James Gordon (Wright) – among the city’s corrupt network of officials and prominent figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of revenge among his dear citizens.”
“When a killer attacks Gotham’s elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World’s Greatest Detective on an investigation into the criminal underworld, where he encounters characters like Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin (Farrell), Carmine Falcone (JTurturro) e Edward Nashton/Charada (Damage). As the evidence begins to get personal and the scale of the perpetrator’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.”
Robert Pattinson star in the lead role. The cast still has Zoë Kravitz (Cat Woman), Paul Dano (Charade), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), John Turturro (Carmine Falcone), Andy Serkis (Alfred Pennyworth) e Colin Farrell (Penguin).
