Who will stay with Mario?
It doesn’t matter the label, but the content. The new project by one of the most cinephile filmmakers in the Brazilian industry arrived in theaters months ago, Hsu Dog. Who will stay with Mario? is a feature film, with a screenplay based on the Italian film Wandering Mines, which seeks deep reflections in humor about the choices of a young man who lied to his family all his life and now decides to come out of the closet. There are very subtle criticisms of the sexist jokes, the way some look at women in charge of business decisions, the family judgments that can exist. The protagonist seeks, in his new courageous actions, the freedom he never had, other than continuing to believe in his own truth. Even with great messages that come easily to the viewer, the intermediate arcs lose strength when they seek the balance between drama and comedy (the former works better), the script seems off course in many of these moments. Even with some Achilles heels, the film seeks fun by being reflective. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

Laugh not to cry. Including several criticisms about human relationships, whether between friends, between husband and wife, in the form of humor, game night, shows the human facets open in situations beyond unusual, having as a point of intersection the obsession of competitiveness arising from a trauma between siblings.
