O Oscar 2022 was one of the most talked about topics in recent days – but not for the reasons we would expect, but for the surprising confrontation between Will Smith e Chris Rock.
For those who don’t remember, Rock made a bad joke with Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, mocking his health condition and the fact that his head was shaved. In response, Will took the awards stage and slapped the comedian, shortly afterwards returning to his seat in the audience and yelling: “keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth”twice.
Of course, this caused shock and discomfort in most celebrities, but one of them had not spoken, at least until now: Rock himself.
second to magazine Peoplethe actor revealed, during his performance at The Wilbur Theater in Boston, that he is still processing what happened:
“I do not have much to say about what happened, so if you came to hear this, I have a whole show written before this weekend.”he commented. “I’m still processing what happened. So at some point I’m going to talk about this shit. And it will be serious and funny.”
Previously, Will Packerthe first black producer in Oscar history, spoke to the American television show Good Morning America about the 2022 issue controversy. According to Packer, LAPD agents were prepared to arrest Smith if Rock pressed charges.
“They were saying it was aggression. It was the word they used at the time. They said they were going to get him, that they were ready. They were prepared to catch him at that very moment, and that he could press charges.”says Packer.
“The cops were listing the options. And, as they talked, Chris was dismissing was discarding them all. He would say, ‘No, no, no, I’m fine’. To the point where I told him to let them finish the show.”he said.
Packer added that “The LAPD officers finished listing all the options and ended up with, ‘Would you like to file a lawsuit against him?’ and Chris said no. He said no”. The producer explained that he didn’t get a chance to speak during the Oscars ceremony with Smith after the incident.
