According to some recent information, published first hand by the magazine Varietya Warner Bros. would be exploring a possible reformulation of the DC Entertainmentwhich would directly affect the films and series of DC.
This is being released after the Discovery close the $43 billion deal to acquire WarnerMedia. This move would affect the Warner Bros. Pictures, which develops the DC films, and Warner Bros. Television, which creates the streaming series and creative arm within the Batman and Superman label.
The basic concept of the rework would be to unify these elements more cohesively to maximize the value of DC’s superheroes. Before the merger is even completed, David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, would have vetted candidates with experience creating and nurturing successful IP, with the goal of finding someone to serve as DC’s creative and strategic leader — someone who would act as Kevin Feige and Marvel.
Such a move would be similar to that made by the Walt Disney Studios a few years ago, where he made the company’s operations Marvel Studios totally independent.
One of the candidates would be Emma Wattsan executive who passed through Fox and Paramount, however the information also indicates that “Doesn’t look like Watts wants to take the job”. The information also points out that Zaslav would be less focused on a creative guru, but more interested in finding an executive with business experience.
Let’s just hope that if they decide to build everything, they don’t throw away movies like ‘joker‘ (2019), ‘Suicide squad‘ (2021) e ‘Batman‘ (2022).
