Besides Cruise, Val Kilmer will also reprise his role as Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky.
In the original film, Iceman and Maverick had a rivalry for the position of best pilot at the US Air Force academy.
But, despite everything, the duo ends up respecting each other after they go through a conflict against enemy pilots at the climax of the plot.
In an interview for the GamesRadarthe director of the sequel, Joseph Kozinskicommented on what it was like to work with Kilmer.
“It was a huge achievement to have Val back to play the Iceman. Working with an actor of this caliber and seeing the chemistry and camaraderie between him and Tom is indescribable. Having these two iconic characters come together in this movie was a very special moment and one of my favorite parts of the movie.”
Work with Kilmer without a doubt it must have been a great honor for the filmmaker, especially after the actor won a grueling battle with throat cancer… Which had interrupted his career for years.
In the film, the star’s voice was recreated using artificial intelligence using files from his previous work.
And there, you’re looking forward to seeing him in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’?
