panic 4the belated and, shall we say, underrated sequel to the franchise completes 11 years of its theatrical release in 2022. Having its premiere in Hollywood on April 11, 2011, the feature hit the big screen in the US a few days later , on the 15th of the same month and year – the date on which he also arrived in our manly Brazil.
Behind the scenes of a film production is the biggest thing and when we talk about actors and roles, this is the subject of a long book. A movie can change considerably depending on the interpreter of a particular character. In panic 4things almost turned out differently than what we see on screen as well.
Of course, here we are only talking about the new characters, since it has not yet been considered in the franchise to replace the characters Sidney, Dewey and Gale with other actors (thankfully). Check Below.
Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts)
Jill – the most important new character in the plot -, Sidney’s cousin, before receiving the forms of Emma Robertswas almost lived by Selena Gomez e Ashley Greene, both considered for the paper. On the other hand, Scout Taylor-Compton (the Laurie Strode from the movies Halloweenfrom Rob Zombie) even auditioned for the same character.
Policial Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton)
Another flashy new character in the fourth film is police officer Judy Hicks, Dewey’s partner at work, who has a crush on her partner on the force. The actress Lake Bell had been hired for the role of Judy, but had to leave the production due to the famous “schedule conflict”, announcing her departure on Twitter in June 2010. Before the role took on the shape of the blonde Marley SheltonNonetheless, Christina Ricci in person, who had previously worked with director Wes Craven in the ill-fated cursed (2005), auditioned for the character.
Kate Roberts (Mary McDonnell)
Besides Lake Bell, another actress was hired to play a character, but unfortunately she was forced to leave the production. It is none other than Lauren GrahamLorelai Gilmore, from the beloved series Gilmore Girls (2000-2007). The actress was signed for the role of Kate, Sidney’s aunt and Jill’s mother. Graham even announced his participation in the talk show of Jay Leno in 2009. Two weeks later, she withdrew from the project due to constant script changes. And as we know, the role went to the two-time Oscar nominee. Mary McDonnell (Dance with wolves e All for Life).
Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere)
A favorite of 10 out of 10 fans of the franchise, Kirby is without a doubt the preferred addition in Panic, occurred in this fourth episode. So much so that many ask for the character’s participation in the upcoming fifth film. It’s hard to imagine another actress bringing more life to the witty Kirby than Baker, which really “killed the dick”. However, that almost happened, when the Disney actress Aly Michalka auditioned for the role. Besides her, the sardine Alia Shawkat (Maeb from Arrested Development) was also in the running and recorded a test.
Rebecca Walters (Alison Brie)
Interestingly, one of the most disputed roles that attracted the attention of good actresses was that of Rebecca, Sidney’s publicist at the launch of her book – which is Gale’s version of this kind of reboot. The paper ended up in the hands of Alison Brie, well-known actress. However, before her, the retired Amanda Bynes (who has not appeared on screens since his participation in The lie, 2010) auditioned for the role – which would get her out of seclusion. outside her, Aubrey Plazabest known for her acid comedies, also auditioned for Rebecca.
Chloe e Rachel (Kristen Bell e Anna Paquin)
The opening scene of panic 4 It’s the best in the franchise! Amusing and perfecting the metalanguage as never before, the film constantly plays with the audience by delivering “false beginnings” of the film within the film. There are three segments, among which the middle section with the most famous actresses stands out: Kristen Bell and Oscar winner Anna Paquin. The blondes play friends watching a sequence of Stab on TV, a movie session that ends in a shocking and unusual way. Before the actresses were hired, the segment was planned with the “trash muses” Paris Hilton e Lindsay Lohan in mind. Well, if that actually happened, it would blur the line between the franchise Panic and your parody Everybody in panic.
Olivia Morris (Marielle Jaffe)
Olivia is one of the killer’s first victims in panic 4. She is one of the two best friends of the “protagonist” Jill, alongside Kirby. While the character of Baker is cooler and sassy, Olivia is the hottie in high school. Living up to the role she was hired at stunning Marielle Jaffe, who unfortunately did not do anything very remarkable in his career afterwards. In its place almost entered the British Jenna Colemanknown for the series Victory: The Life of a Queen (2016-2019), who auditioned for the character.
Sherrie (Lucy Hale)
As mentioned, the beginning of panic 4 It’s one of its biggest differences from the previous films in the franchise. It’s three fake outs where we believe we are already seeing the film, but what we are actually seeing is the film within the film. And in the first scene is the actress Lucy Haleat the time already known for the series Pretty Little Liers (2010-2017). Maybe that’s why the actress was hired without having to audition for the role. Nonetheless, Hale revealed in an interview that she was originally signed for the role of Marnie Cooper, one of the characters who also open the film, but is already in the “real world”. Hale could not accept due to conflict with the recordings of the aforementioned program, thus needing to stay with minor participation in Sherrie’s forms. Marnie ended up in the hands of another now famous actress: Britt Robertson.
Another star straight out of the Disney Channel, Hilary Duff was briefly linked to the production, but ended up leaving the project. Her character, however, was not specified. Would it be a character eliminated from the final script, or an acquaintance? That is the question.
Similar epic passed to actress Rutina Wesleyfamous for her roles as Tara in True Blood (2008-2014) and Liza Warner in Arrow (2015-2017). Wesley even signed a contract for an equally unspecified role, however, had to drop production due to scheduling conflicts.
