In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mads Mikkelsen (‘Hannibal’) has revealed that he hopes to get the chance to play villain Gellert Grindelwald again in the franchise ‘fantastic beasts‘.
“I believe the reason [de Grindelwald querer guerra contra os trouxas] it’s because of something that happened to his whole family when he was a kid, which explains all this hatred he carries. He is a fantastic, detailed and complex character from this universe created by JK Rowling. I hope to be able to play him more times besides this movie.”
It is worth remembering that the future of the franchise ‘fantastic beasts‘ will depend on the performance of ‘Dumbledore’s Secrets‘ at the box office. The producers had announced the planning of five films, but the Warner Bros. allegedly would be reassessing the future of the saga.
according to Varietythere are chances that the franchise will be wrapped up in the fourth film – with the script condensing the events of the next two sequels.
“There is speculation as to whether or not Fantastic Beasts will fulfill its ambitions as a five-film franchise. There is currently no script for a fourth part, according to reliable sources. Warner executives are waiting to see how ‘Dumbledore’s Secrets’ will be received before giving the green light to the remaining parts.”says the website article.

And in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Mikkelsen talked about this change and how the whole process happened: “It was all quite chaotic”. According to him, the producers gave the actor just two days to decide whether or not to play the villain.
“You don’t want to copy anything Depp was doing – that would be creative suicide. Even if the paper is perfectly made, you want to make it yours. But it still has to build some kind of link between what came before.”commented by Mikkelsen.
Remembering that Johnny Depp has already been a controversial choice since he was cast to play Grindelwald, replaced by controversies related to his troubled divorce and serious accusations against him by the actor’s ex-wife, also actress Amber Heard.
Among many complaints, Heard reports that the first scenes of violence took place in 2015, in Australia, during the filming of the fifth film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. The defense emphasizes that Johnny Depp became a monster when he used medication mixed with cocktails of alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy and hallucinogenic mushrooms – where the actress released a video of that moment.
At the time, Amber claimed that Johnny “violently attacked” her and threw a phone in her face with “extreme force”. The actor denied the abuse.
Days before the trial, the former couple released a note stating that they had resolved the matter. “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always based on love. Neither party made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intention of physical or emotional harm,” they said.
Already Mads Mikkelsen has a career with several prominent roles, such as ‘007: Cassino Royale‘, ‘The hunt‘ and the series ‘Hannibal‘.
