Since the official announcement that ‘Justice League‘ would win the Snyder Cutthe director David Yesterday has been campaigning for an alternative version of ‘Suicide squad‘ (2016).
The filmmaker made his dissatisfaction public and explained that his project was shredded, claiming that the version that reached theaters was not the one he had planned.
And a Twitter page in support of the ‘Ayer Cut‘ of the feature had access to never-before-seen footage of the Joker’s makeup test from Jared Leto.
“Here’s your reward for a great job today! Brand new. Images of Jared Leto during makeup tests for the Joker. A hail to the winner of the Oscar Alessandro Bertolazzi for sending me these photos today to celebrate.”

Upon release, the film was heavily criticized for lacking pace and identity, despite the explosive style of driving.
In an interview with CinemaBlendthe editor Kevin Hickman opened up about the project and revealed how studio executives totally changed the vision that Ayer had for work.
“The film we shot for ‘Suicide squad’ it was a million times better – and it was a great cast movie that had countless other characters that would be introduced and through which we would explain the camaraderie created between them all. Then, ‘Suicide squad’ it was a challenge because we had so many characters that at one point we showed it to the studio and they wanted to take things in a different direction. [A Warner Bros.] I wanted the origin of the characters to happen at the beginning and insert a level of comedy into the film.”
Previously, Ayer talked to EW and returned to talk about the desire for the release of the original cut.
“I think studios now realize that there can be official and alternate versions, and fans want to see them. They love the characters and want to spend more time with them. People are much more interested in how movies are made and want to be a part of that journey. There is room for different things, different versions, to be shared with the public. I believe this helps reinforce our connection to the community. But I must give credit to Warner Bros. for supporting Zack [Snyder] and have the courage to explore that.”
he completes, “I understand it’s part of the business, but it’s frustrating because I actually did a deep drama and my version was destroyed as they tried to turn the movie into a ‘Deadpool’ – which it wasn’t meant to be. So I end up being guilty because my name is there. Although it doesn’t represent what I actually did, I have to face the critics’ ammo and be a good soldier. I made an amazing movie, which ended up scaring the executives.”
Unfortunately, the president and CEO of WarnerMedia, Ann Sarnoffrevealed that they do not intend to release the Ayer Cut.
“We will not be releasing David Ayer’s version of Suicide Squad”he said.
