The initial plan was to have cameos from Gates and Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger) in the rookie season, but the idea wasn’t fitting.
However, the return of the characters is not out of the question in the future of the attraction.
During an interview for the Entertainment Weekly, o showrunner Cormac Wibberley confirmed that there are plans to bring them as early as the second season.
The filmmaker compared the relationship between Gates and the series’ protagonist to something similar between Peter and Ben Parker in the franchise’Spider man’with Gates taking on a mentorship position, should he ever show up.
“This is basically how we envision the relationship between Jess Morales and Ben Gates if he showed up. She’s basically Peter Parker to him and he’d be like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Ben Gates! What do I do?’ This is how our universe spins. We’d love to bring in any of the other veterans if we have another season. We have a place for them all.”
This isn’t the first time Cormac touch on the subject…
In July, he and his wife, Mariannewho also takes on the script, told the Deadline that the doors are open for a possible return of Cage to paper.
“We’ll beg, beg and all,” these Marianne during the duo’s stint at San Diego Comic-Con. “We’ll have him in two seconds. He’s our favorite actor of all. We cast him as Ben Gates before he was Ben Gates. He was our first choice.”
“In this crazy story, he [o personagem] could be out there on his honeymoon, until he decides to get back into the game. He has the ability to do that.”
